Chemical Peels
in Daytona Beach, FL
What are Chemical Peels?
Chemical peels are liquid solutions that are applied to the face in order to exfoliate and remove damaged layers. A chemical peel may be either superficial, medium, or deep. Each one progressively removes more layers of skin, and will, therefore, cause more dramatic results and a longer recovery time. Many of the peels we offer contain either salicylic or glycolic acid, although other ingredients may also be found in medium or deep ones.
Who is the Ideal Candidate for a Chemical Peel?
To enjoy a chemical peel, you should have healthy skin and realistic expectations as to what you can accomplish through one. Dr. Zamora may ask you to put off having a chemical peel if you have open sores or severe burns, including sunburns.
What do I Need to do Before Having a Chemical Peel?
Do not use any other exfoliating product on your face for about a week or so. You should also avoid serious sun exposure, including the artificial UV light produced by tanning beds.

IN OUR CLIENTS' OWN WORDS
What Should I Expect on the Day of my Chemical Peel?
You will be administered light anesthesia before undergoing a medium or deep peel; however, no numbing agent is needed for a light peel. After cleansing your face, an aesthetician will apply the solution to your face, taking care to avoid your eyes, nose, and mouth. This solution will be allowed to “sit” for around 20 minutes or so in order to target specific layers of your skin. After the right amount of time has elapsed, the chemical peel will then be washed away before applying moisturizer.
How Long Does it Take to Perform Chemical Peels?
It normally takes around an hour or so for most peels. Even though light peels take the same amount of time as deep ones, they could require more than one session to achieve the maximum results.
What to Expect After Chemical Peels
Some redness, swelling, and itching may be present following a chemical peel depending on the deepness of the peel. You could need over-the-counter medication to eliminate swelling and discomfort and may find wearing makeup or sunscreen uncomfortable. If so, wear a wide-brimmed hat to protect your face whenever you are outdoors.
Will I Have Scars After Chemical Peels?
One of the things our Daytona Beach patients like most about chemical peels is the fact that they leave no scars whatsoever! Now it’s possible to look and feel your very best without having to worry about unsightly scars that might detract from your final results.
How Long Will the Results of a Chemical Peel Last?
The results of a light chemical peel may be noticed for a couple of months or so, while medium and deep peels provide longer-lasting benefits. How long you maintain your results will depend upon your lifestyle, age, and the overall condition of your skin prior to treatment.
